The main objectives of this council are:
- To enhance the professional development and career opportunities of post-docs in preparation for a career in academia/industry
- To form a strong community among post-doctoral fellows/research associates across Ireland
- To facilitate information flow among researchers and to encourage future collaborations
Rajendra Kurapati is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie research fellow in the MedTrain program at CURAM, NUIG. He is working with Prof. Abhay Pandit to develop biodegradable black phosphorus materials for treatment of glioblastoma. He obtained PhD in Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Later, he worked in Graphene Flagship Project as a Post-Doc with Dr. Alberto Bianco at IBMC-CNRS, France. Then he worked as a Research Engineer with Prof. Philippe Marcus at Chimie ParisTech, Paris.
Vijay received his Ph.D in Life Sciences from University of Delhi, India. His research focused on biopolymeric nanoparticlulate approaches for inflammatory diseases. As a MedTrain Fellow, he is currently working in CÚRAM with Prof. Abhay Pandit on functionalization of biomaterials for myocardial infarction.
Merari Tumin Chevalier
Merari completed a Degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Material Science at the National University of Mar del Plata, Argentina. As part of her PhD studies she was a Visiting Fellow at the Polymer Science and Technology Institute - CSIC, Madrid. Her general area of research includes nanomedicine, polymer science and biomaterials. In CÚRAM, Merari will be working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit aiming to develop novel biomaterials for cardiac repair.
